FAQS

Can we watch classes?

It’s important to keep parents involved and informed with our classes and dancers' progress. We have open practices throughout the year so that parents can see exactly what goes on in a DU Studios class. Parents, siblings and friends are not permitted to watch our classes unless invited by the teacher.

What do I wear to class? Do I need a uniform?

Upon enrolment, dancers will order their DU Club Tee. We encourage dancers to wear the correct clothing and footwear to ensure safe training. It also helps create more team spirit amongst dancers, encourages students to take pride in their club and allows coaches to properly see and correct alignment of the body. COMMERCIAL JAZZ/TECHNIQUE: DU Club Tee, black leggings/shorts, jazz shoes (colour: tan). HIP HOP: DU Club Tee, black leggings/shorts, runners or sneakers. LYRICAL: DU Club Tee, black leggings/shorts, jazz shoes (colour: tan). Please no school uniform or demin. Presentation is imperative when you are dancing, this includes your hair. Please ensure your hair is neatly tied back in a ponytail and off your face - Lyrical dancers must wear their hair in a bun. This is for our dancers' safety and to avoid class disruption.

What happens if I miss a class?

Please contact us to let us know if you will not be attending a class. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for absences.

How do I join DU?

It’s easy - contact us to arrange a free trial class, see our great facility and meet the team!

What are the costs involved?

Recreational Classes: Fees are paid by the term and are outlined in our Information Handbook. If you would like to know more please contact us.

Do I need to practice?

In order to improve, students are encouraged to practice - particularly for showcases and competitions. All dancers should practice at home each week and gently work on their flexibility each day to improve, build on their skills and acheive their dance goals.

Do I need to attend classes regularly?

Dance is a team sport, like any other. It is essential that dancers attend classes consistenly as it is difficult for dancers to catch up on what they may have missed in class. Additionally, it is difficult for their teammates to work around those who are absent from class.

I have never danced before! Is this okay?

Of course it is! We encourage beginners to join! After all, we all have to start somewhere. If striving for greatness and success is your goal and you're ready to be inspired, motivated and pushed, then Dance Union is where you are meant to be!
